30 Oct Standby To Help
Online classes have gone into full swing at Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) International School due to Covid-19.
Although classes last for a full school day – 8.30m until 3.45pm – there are ample breaks between lessons to ensure the scholars and coaches don’t strain themselves by looking too long at their screens.
But, even during those breaks, the coaches are always on call to help the scholars with any questions.
“We have a 45-minute tutorial time (2.15pm-3pm) for the scholars to do their homework, but our coaches are on standby until 3.45 if anyone needs help,” said GOTS co-founder Veronica Shepherdson.
“The coaches are also available throughout the day. Any time the scholars need help, they can contact our coaches.
“We know it is not an easy time so we are trying our best to assist where possible.”
Shepherdson added parents have come to better understand GOTS’ teaching methods as the online classes were initiated during MCO in March.
The children only returned to school in July.
“We had discussions with the parents about online classes,” said Shepherdson.
“As soon as the government announced CMCO, we swung into action to ensure our scholars would be better equipped for the ‘quarantine’.
“We made changes to our schedule and the live chats with students ensure our coaches can be reached anytime help is needed.”
