06 Jul Science Virtual Workshop
Making Science cool
Can you survive on a deserted island using your wits and knowledge of science?
How about making your Lava Lamps from items found in your kitchen?
If you want to know how you can do all that and more, then sign up for Global Oak Tree Scholars’ (GOTS) FREE virtual science workshop this Saturday at https://bit.ly/
This two-hour workshop is by GOTS’ Head of Science Dr Vicknesha Santhirasegaram. It is open to children aged 10 to 14 and limited to 10 participants.
“We have prepared some experiments and games to teach the participants about the wonders of science,” said Dr Vicknesha, who has a double major in Chemistry and Biology from Campbell University in the United States.
“We have split the workshops into several segments to make it easier for the participants to digest what we are trying to teach.
“One of the games is called ‘Who wants to be a survivor?’ where we put the participants in several groups. They then have to find items which will help them survive on a deserted island or other situations.
“They then have to explain why they chose a particular item.”
Dr Vicknesha, who earned her PhD in Food Science from Universiti Malaya, said other activities include ‘Density Tower’ and ‘Unscramble’.
“At GOTS we use activities and games to teach. That is what we will be doing in the workshops.”
