GOTS superheroes fly high at Sports Carnival

“With great power comes great responsibility.” – Ben Parker in Spider-Man.

And there is no denying all those involved in Global Oak Tree Scholars’ (GOTS) second Sports Carnival last Saturday used their “powers responsibility” – much to the delight of the parents and guests who turned up for the event.

‘Superheroes’ did battle at GOTS’ City of Elmina Campus, Shah Alam, with four teams – Yellow (Bumblebee), Lilac (Raven), Green (Green Lantern) and Blue (Captain Marvel) – showcasing their strengths and teamwork.

The Sports Carnival was divided into three parts – pre-primary, primary and secondary.

Each section saw the scholars ‘battle’ among themselves while the parents were roped in to ‘fight’ alongside their children in games such as Frisbee, tug-of-war, dress me up and blindfold (where the pre-primary scholars had to lead their blindfolded parents along a path to burst a balloon).

As we learnt from Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel was the mightiest hero and Blue Team lived up to her reputation to emerge champion with 680 points.

The Green Lantern was second (630 points), followed by Raven (620) and Bumblebee (380).

“The Superhero theme is apt as our coaches and scholars are the ‘Superheroes’ of GOTS,” said the international school’s co-founder Veronica Shepherdson.

“They know if they fall, it is about getting right up once again. That’s how you succeed in life.

“At GOTS our ‘Superheroes’ know they do what must be done to get the job done.

“Run when you can, walk if you have to or crawl if you must. But like superheroes, they never give up.”
