GOTS 2020

GOTS 2020

Exciting line-up at GOTS for 2020

The new year brings with it renewed hope for Veronica Shepherdson.

The co-founder of Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) has big plans for the international school which has grown by leaps and bounds since opening its doors in 2018.

Shepherdson, who has been an educator for more than 30 years, is excited about the additional curriculum activities this year.

These include ice-skating and cheerleading which will complement existing activities such as Taiko drums, taekwondo, speech and drama, hip-hop dancing and ballet.

“Many parents have been asking about ice-skating lessons, especially as one of our own scholars, Maryam Mahmud, has been winning medals on a regular basis,” she said.

These activities are part of GOTS’ efforts to produce well-rounded scholars who practise a healthy lifestyle.

“These lessons complement our academics studies and our financial literacy classes which aim to impart life skills.”

Scholars in secondary will also have access to a new sports arena which will allow them to indulge in futsal, running, basketball and archery.

In the pre-primary and primary campus, scholars will have access to a newly built playground, sand pit, wading pool and they can also experience al fresco dining.

Shepherdson adds GOTS is also introducing a new programme called ‘Weekend at the heart of GOTS’ where the school aims to reach out to students and their families and also the local community.

“We have an exciting list of events lined up for the next few months and we hope to get the local community on board.”
