Coach Ranjita misses her GOTS family
Ranjita Mohgan longs for the day when schools can start operating once again as she misses her students and colleagues very much.
The Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) coach, who has been teaching for five years, said the family-like environment in the Shah Alam international school makes it a joy to work.
“I miss my friends and kids. It’s a struggle not being able to see them physically,” said Ranjita who coaches FinancialSmart – GOTS’ financial literacy lessons.
Run in collaboration with world-renowned MoneyTree, FinancialSmart is aimed at developing financial-savvy kids and teenagers by complementing academic achievement with financial literacy.
The interactive sessions focus on real-life case studies to help children understand the concept of money with the aim of equipping them with a life skill that will prepare them for the real world.
There are three stages in the programme for each of three levels – basic (ages 6-8), junior (9-12) and apprentice (13-17).
“Everything about this subject is interesting. I’m glad the kids at GOTS are exposed to FinancialSmart,” said Ranjita, who attended a special course before teaching the subject.
“They learn how to value money at a very young age and this will help them when they are older.”
Now that she has been working from home for nearly three months, what is the biggest take away from it all?
“Being able to adapt to the new learning environment. This shows GOTS’ teachers are capable and willing to experiment to ensure our students get the best.”
