A glorious month for GOTS superstars

A glorious month for GOTS superstars

August was a great month for Global Oak Tree Scholars (GOTS) as several scholars shone on the world stage.

On Aug 17 and 18, seven scholars competed in the International Heros Taekwondo Cup, Johor Hibiscus Open Dancesport Championship and 7th Total Gym International Gymnastics Tournament – winning a total of 13 medals!

Madilynn Tan won a gold medal while Jayden Nishaan Sandhu, Myo Sett Kyaw, Ho Wern Xuen were silver medallists and Kestryl Joan Dewa Balan a bronze medallist at the International Heros Taekwondo Cup.

Another taekwondo exponent, Heng Xuan Qi, opted to compete in the Total Gym competition – and earned a bronze medal in the Under-12 event.

Charmaine Lim, GOTS’ inaugural Student of the Month winner in March, continued to shine in Dancesport as she won seven bronze medals in Johor and Singapore over the same weekend.

She had previously won medals while competing in overseas competitions.

GOTS co-founder Veronica Shepherdson was pleased as punch as she handed over the medals to her scholars in a simple ceremony at the City of Elmina Campus in Shah Alam.

“While we take great pride in producing A+ scholars, we never neglect the artistic and sporting side as exercise is good for the brain,” said Shepherdson.

“I am so proud of all the winners, more so as they had to compete against so many competitors from so many countries.

“I would also like to thank the parents for trusting us with their children.

“GOTS Boleh!”
